NDP chooses leader committed to proportional representation
Will seek mandate for electoral reform in next election
Fair Vote Canada (FVC) congratulates Thomas Mulcair, a proponent of proportional representation, on winning the leadership of the federal New Democratic Party.
“The majority of Canadians (68%) want electoral reform, so we all benefit when a leader is chosen who has made a commitment to bring a fair and proportional voting system to Canada” says Fair Vote Canada president Shoni Field.

Voting under way for FVC National Council elections
Every year, FVC elects five members to a three-year term on our national board of directors, the National Council. There are fifteen directors in all. The election is being conducted by mail and online using the Single Transferable Vote, a proportional voting system.
Nominations are now closed for this year’s election. Eleven candidates have put their name forward for election to the five positions. Their candidate statements can be viewed here: http://www.fairvote.ca/en/candidate-statements-fvc-national-council-elec...
To help you make your decision, we also asked FVC members to submit a few questions for the candidates. Their answers are now available here: http://www.fairvote.ca/NC-2012-candidate-positions
To be eligible to vote, you must have joined Fair Vote Canada on or before February 26, 2012, and your membership dues must be paid up. If you are unsure of your membership status, contact the Executive Director at office@fairvote.ca.
Qualified voters without email have been sent a mail-in ballot. If you require a mail-in ballot, contact the Executive Director at office@fairvote.ca or leave a detailed message at 416-410-4034, or fax a message to 416-410-0010.
Online voting began April 1 for all voters with email. If you are a qualified voter, you should have received your personal online voting link by email. If you did not receive your online voting link, contact the Executive Director at office@fairvote.ca.
Each online voter must have a unique email address. If there is more than one qualified voter at your email address, contact the Executive Director at office@fairvote.ca.
