Beta Release of OpenSTV 1.3

OpenSTV 1.3 will include a complete overhaul of the user interface.

The first major change is that when you run an election, you must specify a file as the source of the ballots. Previously, there was a working set of ballots in memory that was used automatically. The second major change is that ballot editing functionality has been moved into a different window and you can have multiple ballot editing windows open at a time. Overall, the program is a lot easier to use.

We don't normally release beta versions, but we are doing so now because it is hard to test for bugs in a user interface. We hope that you will try it out and report back to the OpenSTV email list. If you do so, please let us know the platform (windows, mac, etc) you use, any suggestions for improvements, and whether or not you found any bugs in the interface. Here is a link to the beta release.

Note that the OS X release requires 10.5 (Leopard), but we hope to also include 10.4 (Tiger) build for the actual OpenSTV 1.3 release.
